BC Data docs

list_sources

What sources exist and how fresh they are

Every source BC Data knows about: its area, what it holds, whether it is live, unavailable or still coming, whether data is copied, looked up live or linked, its licence, and when it was last checked. Start here.

Cost: 1 unit of your allowance (see Rate limits).

Parameters

  • domain (laws, policy, hiring, land, indigenous, elections, history, optional)
  • status (live, unavailable, coming, optional)

REST

curl -X POST https://api.bcmcp.ca/v1/tools/list_sources \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $BCDATA_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{}'

MCP

Call the tool list_sources with these arguments. Over raw JSON-RPC:

curl -X POST https://api.bcmcp.ca/mcp \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $BCDATA_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Accept: application/json, text/event-stream" \
  -d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"list_sources","arguments":{}}}'

What comes back

Every answer is the same envelope, over REST and over MCP: available, data, citations, freshness and notes. See Citations and freshness.
