floodplain_lookup

Mapped floodplain at a point

Not a flood hazard or risk map, and a miss does not show a point is safe. Whether a point (lat, lon in WGS 84) lies inside an area of the province's historical floodplain mapping (Mapped Floodplains in BC: 133 mapped areas such as the Vedder and Chilliwack Rivers; most of the province has none), read live from DataBC. Each area is a Floodplain, an Alluvial Fan, or an area mapped as outside the floodplain (feature name Nothing). Returns the area id, floodplain name, feature name, designation date and mapsheet numbers; no geometry.

Cost: 5 units of your allowance (see Rate limits).
