broadband_availability
B.C. broadband availability by area (ISED National Broadband Data, hexagon level)
Broadband availability for an area of, or near, British Columbia from Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada's National Broadband Data: give a point (lat and lon inside a box around British Columbia, for example from the B.C. geocoder; only B.C. hexagons are stored, so results stop at the provincial border) and radius_km (1 to 25, default 5), or one hexagon id. It returns the nearest hexagons (each about 25 square kilometres) that have data, with their estimated population and dwellings as ranges, whether more than 75% of dwellings have a service of at least 5/1 Mbps, the share of dwellings with 50/10 Mbps or more, and the providers and technologies (fibre to the home, coaxial cable, DSL, fixed wireless, mobile wireless, satellite, high capacity transport). This is hexagon level, not address level: it cannot say whether one address can get a service, what a plan costs or what speed a customer gets. Aggregates only, no individual or household records. Hexagons without a row have no data in the file, which is not evidence of no service.
Cost: 2 units of your allowance (see Rate limits).
