big_game_harvest_statistics

Big game harvest statistics by management unit (Province of British Columbia)

Estimated hunters, hunt days and kills of big game in a British Columbia wildlife management unit (WMU), by hunt year and species, with the sex and age ratios of the kills, from the province's Big Game Harvest Statistics 1976 to 2024. Give a species (for example moose, elk, black bear or the code MOOS), a wmu (1-6, 4-02 or the file's own code 106), a region label (as the file writes it: 1 to 6, 7, 7A, 7B, 8) or any mix, optionally year_from and year_to, include units (default) or all, and limit (default 40, newest hunt years first). These are survey and inspection based ESTIMATES for a hunt year, split into resident and non-resident hunters. They are not animal populations, not how many animals are in a unit, not a hunting opportunity, season, quota or permission, and they hold no information about any hunter. Cells the file leaves blank come back null, not zero. Rows the file writes with a region-only code (R00) or the undocumented code 900 are returned only with include all, each labelled by what the file supports.

Cost: 1 unit of your allowance (see Rate limits).
